West Seattle Elementary School

Originally built in the mid-1980s, West Seattle Elementary School has been a part of the district’s community for decades. To meet the demands of modern education, JMC is leading a renovation of the existing 50,700 square foot building. A new 20,000 square foot two-story building is being added, incorporating 12 new classrooms and 2 learning commons to enhance the school's overall academic services.

The renovation entails modernizing the building’s exterior, upgrading sidewalks, and improving landscaping for better pedestrian access and flow. The interior renovation features new flooring, new ceilings, and refurbishing existing classrooms and the gymnasium. Work also includes installing a new fire sprinkler and fire alarm system. In addition, data systems, plumbing, and HVAC systems have been updated to improve the building’s energy efficiency.

The new building's architectural features include brick, metal siding, and exposed concrete. A main entryway has been specifically designed to be a standout feature. As construction continues, the project is on track to be completed in time for the next academic year. The expanded school will have permanent spaces for up to 500 students, creating a modern and cutting-edge educational facility for the community.
